Cavegirl Volleyball
Carlsbad High’s Cavegirl volleyball team dropped their 2024 District 4/5A inaugural to the Clovis Wildcats in Clovis on Tuesday, October 15.
However, the Cavegirls didn’t go down easily. It took the Wildcats five sets to get the win.
After dropping the first two sets to Clovis, 25-23, 25-23, the Cavegirls battled back to win the third and fourth, 25-20, 27-25, before losing the fifth and deciding set, 15-11.
With the loss, Carlsbad fell to 7-10 on the year and 0-1 in conference play. With the win, Clovis raised their overall record to 8-9 and 1-0 in District 4/5A.
The Cavegirls will take on the Hobbs Eagles in Hobbs on Tuesday, October 22. Game times are set for 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
On Thursday, October 17, Carlsbad’s girls entertained the Roswell Coyotes. Due to a Wednesday deadline, the results of that game will be posted in the October 25 edition of the Carlsbad Local.
Cavemen Soccer
Although battling hard, Carlsbad High fell to the Clovis Wildcats 2-0 in a District 4/5A game played in Carlsbad on Tuesday, October 15. As a result of the loss, the Cavemen stand 0-4 in conference play and 2-16 on the season.
With the win, Clovis pushed their yearly mark to 13-4. In conference play, they’re 2-2.
The Cavemen have two more games remaining on their schedule. On Saturday, October 19, they’ll be in Roswell to take on the Coyotes. Game times have been set for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
On Tuesday, October 22, the Cavemen will take the field at home for the final time this year as they close out the 2024 season hosting the Hobbs Eagles. Play will get underway at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Cavegirl Soccer
As of Monday, October 14, the Cavegirl soccer team stood at 4-13 on the year and 0-3 in conference play. Carlsbad took on the Clovis Wildcats on Tuesday, October 15, in Clovis. As of press time, the results of that game had not yet been reported to MaxPreps. Scores for the game will be posted in the October 25 edition of the Carlsbad Local.
